Start: 19:00

Venue: Villa Sander, Mainzer Landstr. 10, 60325 Frankfurt am Main

Wirtschaftsclub Rhein-Main e.V. and the Oswald Spengler Society invite you to a lecture and dinner with David Goldman on 15 June 2026. Mr Goldman will speak in a personal capacity as a geopolitical expert and does not represent the position of the United States government. For many years, he published his observations on culture and contemporary affairs in Asia Times under the pseudonym "Spengler".

As part of today's event, David P. Goldman will also receive the Oswald Spengler Prize of the Oswald Spengler Society, a special recognition of his intellectual contribution to analysing our times. Previous recipients include Michel Houellebecq, Walter Scheidel, Jordan Peterson and the authors behind the Thinking West and Culture Critic platforms.

The prize will be presented by the Society's President, Prof. Dr. David Engels. The laudatory speeches will be delivered by Prof. Dr. Max Otte and Prof. Dr. David Engels. The ceremony will take approximately 30 minutes in total.

Topic:
Before any of his contemporaries, Oswald Spengler recognised the West's demographic crisis and the resulting intellectual uncertainty, marked by a premonition of possible decline. In doing so, he introduced a fundamentally new element into geopolitical analysis, one that is all the more relevant today as many of his predictions have come true.

Speaker:
David P. Goldman is an American author, strategist and long-standing columnist. Writing under the pseudonym "Spengler", he contributed to Asia Times from 2000 to 2025 and helped shape its debate on geopolitics, demography and religion. In May 2025, he joined the Policy Planning Staff of the US Department of State.

Previously, Goldman held senior positions in the financial sector, including at Bank of America, Credit Suisse and Cantor Fitzgerald, and worked as an investment banker in Hong Kong. He was a member of Institutional Investor's "All-America Fixed Income" team.

Alongside his professional work, Goldman has also been active in various think tanks: as a Washington Fellow of the Claremont Institute, a Research Fellow at the Corvinus Institute for Advanced Studies and a Pulliam Fellow at Hillsdale College. He also served as Senior Editor at First Things and Contributing Editor at American Affairs.

He received his academic education at Columbia College (B.A.) and the City University of New York (M.A.), and pursued doctoral studies at the London School of Economics.

Goldman is also a classical musician and was a music critic for Tablet Magazine. He regularly speaks at conservative conferences and institutions, including Stanford University's Hoover Institution and events organised by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute and Hillsdale College.

His major publications include How Civilizations Die (2011), It’s Not the End of the World – It’s Just the End of You (2012) and You Will Be Assimilated: China’s Plan to Sino-Form the World (2020).
